Lanka Premier League (LPL) draft postponed after Coronavirus Outbreak

The draft for Sri Lanka's upcoming Lanka Premier League (LPL) tournament has been postponed, the cricket board said Thursday.

But with more than 1,000 workers at a factory near the capital Colombo carona testing positive in just 72 hours this week, the government closed some areas and banned public ceremonies.

Several international players, including Chris Gayle, Darren Sammy, Darren Bravo, Shahid Afridi and Shakib Al Hasan, attended Friday's ceremony ahead of this Twenty20 competition.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said in a statement, "Player draft 'will not proceed as planned due to current health condition".

In the Lanka Premier League has been Five teams based on various Sri Lankan cities will play a total of 23 matches. The tournament is scheduled to start on 21 November 2020.
